As we continue to scale, Squirro is seeking our first dedicated Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer. About the Role

As the first QA hire, you will be immersed into our Squirro Platform, analyze current testing practices, and formalize QA processes previously handled by engineers. You will set the foundation for a scalable QA department. In this role, you will develop and propose a comprehensive QA strategy that includes both manual and automated testing, with a focus on improving overall software quality and reducing bugs. This opportunity will give you the chance to think strategically about how QA should evolve in an AI-driven company, and bring unique perspectives on how traditional QA can integrate with AI-focused testing to ensure our products' reliability and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Manual Testing Execution: Your biggest initial impact will focus on conducting manual tests across our AI-driven platform to validate features, ensure software stability, and detect bugs.

• Automated Test Case Writing: While manual testing will be the primary focus, contribute to building out automated test cases to enhance testing efficiency over time and reach an 80% automated test case coverage goal.

• Test Case Playbook Creation: Build and maintain a comprehensive playbook that future QA hires can follow with each code commit, ensuring consistent execution of manual and automated tests.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering team, who have been writing their own tests, to standardize testing protocols and ensure high-quality releases moving forward.

• Usability and Functional Testing: Oversee usability and functional testing efforts to ensure that all releases meet both technical specifications and customer expectations for a seamless user experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience in manual quality assurance and testing.

• Comprehensive knowledge of QA methodologies, testing processes, and industry best practices.

• Experience in developing and executing both manual and automated test cases.

• Basic knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and experience with automated testing tools is a plus.

• Experience with bug-tracking systems and tools like Jira, TestRail, or similar.

• Ability to think strategically about QA in an AI-driven environment and bring innovative ideas to the table.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.

• Experience in leading QA initiatives or projects, with a desire to grow into a leadership role.

• Familiarity with usability testing principles and techniques.

• Ability to analyze complex AI software systems and understand the nuances of testing in an AI-focused environment.
• Proficiency with automated testing tools, with a focus on gradually increasing the automation of repetitive tests.
